Is it Nintendos fault that Sony made the Playstation and now owns over half the market? Yes, thats true.
As I watched on Icons this is how it went.
Sony used to only be a hardware specific company, but they where working with Nintendo to make a new console that would play Nintendo Cartages and CDs, but Nintendo saw that most of the credit and money went to Sony, and Nintendo didn't want that. So they went to another company for a CD playing system. A new engineer at the time named Ken Kuturagi got mad and tried to the CEO to let him make the "Playstation", then the CEO said two famous words "Do it!" then it started. At the biggining they didnt know anything about video games, so they tried to round up as many Third-Party developers to join them in making games. Befor they released the PSone, they first named it PlaystationX, but after some dicisions they decided to call it just Playstation. Even befor that many people where not very devoted to believing in the system, they all asked questions "Can they brake the gap between Sega and Nintendo?", well they spend what rumored to be $4Million on a booth at E3....it was a succes, the games there looked so high tech everyone was stuned, but for Sony, they focused on the 19Year old aspct.
So Ten years later they own half the market and its partly because of Nintendo.
